IATF 16949 Quality Management System

IATF 16949 is the technical standard for quality management systems in the automotive industry. It was developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), an organization made up of representatives of the world's leading automotive manufacturers, to harmonize the different quality system requirements used by the global automotive industry.
The standard is based on the ISO 9001 framework and includes specific requirements  to the automotive industry, such as product safety, environmental management and risk management. The objective of IATF 16949 is to improve product quality and service levels in the automotive industry, reduce defects and variations in production and processes, and improve customer satisfaction.
